Chronicles of Victory: The Azerbaijani Army launched a counter-offensive operation, later called the “Iron Fist”, on September 27, 2020, in response to the large-scale provocation of the Armenian armed forces along the frontline, Trend reports. The erupted 44-day second Karabakh war ended with the liberation of Azerbaijan’s territories from nearly 30-year Armenian occupation and the restoration of territorial integrity.
According to Trend News Agency, on the 39th day of the war, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced on his official Twitter page that the Azerbaijani Army had liberated several villages in the Jabrayil, Zangilan, and Gubadli districts. President Aliyev also gave an interview to the Italian newspaper la Repubblica, discussing the ongoing military operations and the strategic goals of Azerbaijan.
Meanwhile, the Armenian armed forces faced significant setbacks, including being forced to retreat after suffering losses. The Azerbaijani side released a list detailing the military equipment de
stroyed during the operations. Despite these losses, the Armenian forces continued their attacks, firing on Tartar and Aghjabadi districts and violating the ceasefire regime in the Tovuz and Agstafa districts.
In addition, video footage showing the destruction of Armenia’s anti-aircraft gun was made public, further emphasizing the Azerbaijani Army’s tactical successes. The Armenian forces’ sabotage attempt against Azerbaijani positions in the direction of the Zangilan district from Armenian territory was also thwarted. Among the casualties, Captain Ando Grigoryan of the Armenian armed forces was reported killed while driving a UAZ vehicle.
