Khankendi: Elchin Yusubov, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts, reported the complete destruction of an Azerbaijani cemetery in Khankendi during the occupation. This announcement was made during an event on Post-conflict Urban Development, organized at the Azerbaijan pavilion as part of WUF13.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Yusubov highlighted that cultural and religious heritage sites in the region suffered significant damage during the occupation period. Among these, the Malibeyli Mosque was partially destroyed, and restoration work is currently underway. Yusubov emphasized that the acts of vandalism not only targeted physical structures but also impacted national, moral, and religious values.
The event showcased a video that detailed the ongoing restoration, construction, and reconstruction efforts in Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly. Participants were informed about the projects aimed at post-conflict urban development, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting sustainable living in the region.
