Baku: A meeting was held in Baku between President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and representatives of Azerbaijan's business community. The event was organized by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia, the Development Agency of Serbia, and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), with the participation of officials and representatives of local enterprises, companies, and associations.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting focused on expanding Azerbaijan-Serbia economic cooperation, enhancing trade and investment relations, and exploring new partnership opportunities between the business communities. Azerbaijan's Minister of Finance, Sahil Babayev, highlighted that relations between the two countries are developing dynamically, based on strong political will and dialogue. Babayev emphasized that cooperation extends beyond energy, encompassing areas like infrastructure, construction, transport, agriculture, tourism, and investment.
Azerbaijan has solidified its role as a significant trade and investment hub due to its favorable investment climate and strategic location. Babayev mentioned that Azerbaijani company AzVirt's infrastructure projects in Serbia exemplify the growing presence of Azerbaijani companies internationally. Discussions are ongoing about joint projects with SOCAR and cooperation in green energy and infrastructure development. The Minister also noted tourism as a new area of cooperation and highlighted the interest from the Serbian side in joint projects.
Direct contact expansion between business communities was stressed as essential for future collaboration. Babayev noted that efforts are ongoing to organize a business mission of Azerbaijani companies to Serbia to explore new project opportunities.
President Aleksandar Vucic praised the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Serbia, emphasizing the importance of direct business community ties and mutual investments. He noted the contribution of direct flights between Baku and Belgrade to bilateral relations and stressed the significance of expanding cooperation in tourism and energy sectors. The President invited Azerbaijani businesses to explore investment opportunities in Serbia, with particular potential in retail trade, spa and mountain resorts, and agricultural products.
