Baku: Azerbaijan is embarking on an ambitious project to construct nine new cities and hundreds of settlements in the liberated territories of Karabakh. This announcement was made by Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Farhad Hajiyev, during the opening session of the Children and Youth Assembly, which is part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the reconstruction efforts in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur are not limited to infrastructure such as roads and buildings. The initiative aims to restore trust, create opportunities, and enhance day-to-day life for the residents. Farhad Hajiyev highlighted that Azerbaijan is committed to creating environments where people can live, work, and study, leveraging green energy, digital innovation, and a people-centered urban planning approach.

The deputy minister also pointed out that young people are the primary beneficiaries of the state's affordable housing programs, accounting for more than 55% of the recipients. He stressed that the future of these cities will be shaped by the involvement of the younger generation, whose participation is crucial in the ongoing development and planning processes.
