Sumgayit: An Azerbaijani court has sentenced Kamran Babayev to six years in prison for charges related to anti-state activities and terrorism. The court’s decision marks the culmination of a legal process initiated by the State Security Service against Babayev, who was accused of making public calls against the state and promoting terrorism.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the final hearing took place at the Sumgayit Court on Grave Crimes, presided over by Judge Aynur Rzayeva. During the proceedings, the court found Babayev guilty under Articles 281.2 and 214-2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. These charges pertain to public calls directed against the state, particularly when committed by a group, and public calls to terrorism, respectively.

The verdict was delivered following investigative and operational measures carried out by the State Security Service, leading to Babayev’s detention. The six-year imprisonment sentence reflects the court’s stance on the severity of the charges and the perceived threat posed by Babayev’s actions.
