Azerbaijan’s Strategic Currency Reserves Surpass External Debt by 16.6 Times

Baku: Azerbaijan’s strategic foreign exchange reserves have significantly surpassed the country’s external public debt, as reported on October 1, 2025. The strategic reserves, comprising the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, amounted to 81.5 billion US dollars. This figure represents a remarkable 16.6 times the external public debt.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Ministry of Finance highlighted that during the same period, Azerbaijan’s external public debt stood at 4,893.1 million US dollars. This substantial difference underscores the robust financial management and economic strategy undertaken by Azerbaijan, positioning the nation with a strong economic buffer.
