Nakhchivan: Azerbaijani customs officers have successfully seized 4.5 kilograms of opium during a routine inspection at the "Shahtakhti" customs checkpoint under the Nakhchivan Main Customs Department. The opium was found in a truck transporting a mixed cargo of food items from Iran to the United Kingdom, passing through Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the discovery was made possible with the assistance of a narcotics detection dog. The opium was concealed in a specially constructed hidden compartment beneath the refrigerator of the truck tractor, highlighting the sophisticated methods employed by smugglers. The customs department has initiated an investigation into the incident to uncover further details and connections.
