Baku: Azerbaijani customs officers have intercepted a significant shipment of heroin, weighing over 112 kg, from a truck carrying cargo from Iran to Germany. The discovery was made at the Shahtakhti customs post of the Nakhchivan Main Customs Department during a routine inspection of a vehicle transporting "prepared food products."

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the vehicle was initially inspected using a stationary X-ray scanner. Following this, a detailed customs inspection was conducted, revealing narcotic drugs cleverly concealed beneath canned rice in 1,218 plastic containers. The sophisticated concealment method used to hide the heroin resulted in a net weight of 112 kg and 761 grams of the illegal substance.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to uncover more details regarding the smuggling operation and those involved. The seizure highlights the ongoing efforts of Azerbaijani customs to combat drug trafficking through their territory.
