Tehran: An Azerbaijani delegation has arrived in Tehran to attend the farewell ceremony for Iran's former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, APA's Tehran bureau reports. The delegation, comprising notable figures such as Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova, Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, and Prime Minister of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Jabbar Musayev, was received at the airport by Iranian officials.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei was killed together with close family members during a joint US-Israeli attack on Tehran on February 28. Following his death, his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, succeeded him. The farewell ceremony for Ali Khamenei is scheduled for July 4-5 at the Mosalla complex in Tehran, after which his body will be transferred to the city of Qom.
After the farewell ceremony in Qom, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei will be buried in Mashhad on July 9, in accordance with his will.
