Nairobi: An Azerbaijani delegation led by Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, is participating in the third session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). The session is being held at the UN-Habitat Headquarters (UNON) in Nairobi.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Azerbaijani delegation includes representatives from the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On the first day of the session, discussions covered organizational, financial, programmatic, and administrative matters. A statement was also made by the Co-Chairs of the Open-Ended Intergovernmental Working Group on the UN-Habitat resolution ‘Adequate Housing for All’.
Anar Guliyev presented the positions of Azerbaijan and Somalia, the newly elected co-chairs of the Working Group on “Adequate Housing for All.” This co-chairmanship was granted to the two countries following a decision adopted at the second session held in October 2025. He highlighted the Working Group’s role in global housing policy, detailed the main directions Azerbaijan and Somalia will pursue, and provided an overview of the second session’s outcomes, progress made, and priorities for the next phase.
