Mbabane: Azerbaijani Charg© d'Affaires Huseyn Rahimli visited Eswatini from February 18-21, upon the invitation of the Kingdom's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to partake in the opening ceremony of Eswatini's Parliament.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Rahimli's visit included a meeting on February 19 with Eswatini's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Pholile Shakantu, at the Royal Palace. They explored potential areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Eswatini. Moreover, His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini received Rahimli, where he extended warm greetings to the President of Azerbaijan and highlighted the friendly relations between the two nations.
King Mswati III expressed his intention to attend the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum in Azerbaijan. He also showed interest in expanding trade and economic relations, particularly in energy, transport, and investment, and discussed potential joint projects in the mining sector involving Azerbaijani investments.
Rahimli highlighted Azerbaijan's achievements in legal and economic reforms and detailed ongoing restoration and reconstruction efforts in liberated territories following Azerbaijan's victory in the 44-day war. The discussions also noted the supportive cooperation between both countries within international bodies like the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement.
Additionally, Rahimli emphasized Azerbaijan's support for enhancing public sector services across Africa, referencing successful initiatives like 'ASAN Khidmet' and 'DOST'. On February 20, Rahimli attended the Parliament's opening ceremony and later met with Speaker Jabulani Mabuza, where both emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing bilateral cooperation.
