Mexico city: Due to the deterioration of the security situation in certain regions of Mexico, the Azerbaijani embassy in the country has issued an appeal to Azerbaijani citizens. The relevant statement was shared on the embassy's official X social media account.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the post states that citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who are visiting or temporarily residing in Mexico are advised to closely follow and strictly comply with the security recommendations issued by local authorities in the state of Jalisco, as well as in the neighboring states of Michoac¡n, Guanajuato, Colima, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, and Nayarit.

The embassy's statement requests citizens to remain vigilant, observe personal safety precautions, avoid mass gatherings and high-risk areas, and follow only information disseminated through official sources. This advisory comes in the wake of heightened tensions after a significant military operation led to the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, known as 'El Mencho'.

Following this operation, members of the cartel reportedly set fire to numerous vehicles in Jalisco and other states, leading to clashes with security forces. The Azerbaijani embassy's warning aims to ensure the safety of its citizens amidst these developments.
