Mbabane: At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Huseyn Rahimli, Charg© d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of South Africa, visited Eswatini from February 18-21 to attend the opening ceremony of the country's Parliament, the Embassy told APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a meeting took place at the royal palace on February 19 between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ms. Pholile Shakantu, and H. Rahimli as part of the visit. The discussions focused on exploring prospects for cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
Subsequently, King Mswati III of Eswatini received Rahimli. During their meeting, King Mswati III conveyed his greetings to the President of Azerbaijan, highlighting the warm relations between the two leaders and expressing satisfaction with the established ties. The King also mentioned his plans to participate in the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Azerbaijan.
On February 20, H. Rahimli attended the opening ceremony of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Eswatini. Following the event, a meeting with the Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Jabulani Mabuza, underscored the potential role of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing the cooperation agenda. H. Rahimli noted that the Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan currently serves as Chair of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, highlighting existing opportunities for collaboration in this area.
