Baku: Azerbaijani female chess players will compete at the 25th European Women's Chess Championship to be held in Batumi, Georgia, on May 24. Azerbaijan will be represented by 12 chess players at the continental championship.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Azerbaijani squad will include Ulviyya Fataliyeva, Gunay Mammadzada, Gohar Beydullayeva, Gulnar Mammadova, Ayan Allahverdiyeva, Turkan Mammadyarova, Sabina Ibrahimova, Zeynab Mammadyarova, Maryam Aghaverdiyeva, Malak Ismayil, Lala Huseynova, and Narmin Abdinova.

The European Women's Chess Championship 2026 will be played in 11 rounds, Swiss system, with the time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves, plus 30 minutes until the end of the game, with a 30-second increment for each move, starting from move one. The Championship, with a total prize fund of £60,000, will run until June 6.

The European Women's Chess Championship 2026 is part of the FIDE Women's World Chess Championship cycle and provides qualification spots for the FIDE Women World Cup.
