Baku: Maleyka Taghizada, Advocacy and Events Consultant at UN-Habitat, emphasized the necessity of integrating young people and civil society as active co-creators in urban design and decision-making processes. This call for action was made during the event titled 'Youth and Civil Society Leadership in the Development of Sustainable and Inclusive Cities,' which took place as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Taghizada highlighted the importance of moving beyond symbolic participation, stressing that current involvement often ends after mere attendance at events. She argued for a more structured approach that allows individuals to genuinely feel they are influencing decisions. Her remarks pointed out the need for long-term mechanisms that facilitate collaboration among youth organizations, NGOs, and academic circles to identify urban challenges, explore solutions, and determine stakeholder involvement in these processes.
