BAKU: The Azerbaijani military has made significant advancements in the ongoing conflict with Armenia, capturing strategic positions and downing enemy aircraft, amidst the 22nd day of the Second Karabakh war, which began as a response to Armenian provocations. According to Trend News Agency, the conflict, ignited by what Azerbaijan termed a "large-scale provocation" by Armenian forces on September 27, 2020, has seen intense military engagements. The Azerbaijani Army, in an operation dubbed "Iron Fist," has reportedly liberated territories under Armenian occupation for nearly three decades, aiming to restore its territorial integrity. The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan detailed several key military achievements on this day. Azerbaijani forces raised their national flag over the historically significant Khudafarin bridge, signaling control over the area. Despite a declared humanitarian ceasefire, Armenian forces continued hostilities, leading to further escalations. Azerbaijan responded by shooting down an Armenian Su-25 attack aircraft and destroying a tactical UAV. Additionally, the Azerbaijani military captured an Armenian military unit along with seizing substantial amounts of military equipment and ammunition. On the ground, Azerbaijani soldiers have taken over positions previously held by Armenian special forces in multiple directions including Aghdara, Fuzuli, Hadrut, and Jabrayil. The capture of these strategic locations has been complemented by the significant symbolism of raising the Azerbaijani flag in the center of the newly liberated Fuzuli city. The ongoing conflict has seen both sides suffer losses, with Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense regularly updating on the destroyed enemy equipment and the shifting lines of control. Despite international calls for peace, the ceasefire agreements have been repeatedly violated, raising concerns about the humanitarian situation in the conflict zones.
