Baku: In line with the President’s initiatives and recommendations, the Government of Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of statistics, said Prime Minister Ali Asadov at the 3rd International Statistics Forum held in Baku, APA-Economics reports. He noted that in recent years, the statistical agency of Azerbaijan has developed significantly, both methodologically and organizationally. The President and the Government have expressed their satisfaction with the activities of the statistical agency. In particular, upon the President’s initiative and with the support of the Government, six state programs have been adopted in recent years, and these programs serve the development of statistics in the country.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, statistics is described as a tool that serves as a fundamental basis not only for the economy but also for forecasting the past, present, and future of all areas of society. This foundation is formed by specific statistical data, figures, diagrams, and charts. The Government of Azerbaijan relies on these elements almost every hour in its daily activities to assess development and make informed decisions. Statistical data is essential for properly evaluating the steps taken by the government. From this perspective, statistics should play an important role in the development of every society, every country, and every field.
Ali Asadov further emphasized that, like all fields, statistics is currently experiencing its own stage of development. In a letter addressed by the President to the Forum participants, it was noted that digital development, IT technologies, artificial intelligence, and the application of new methods are making statistics more accurate, flexible, and accessible.
