Baku: The Azerbaijani group of the 'Peace Bridge' Initiative has voiced disappointment over the contentious media and public discourse in Armenia following the diplomatic corps' visit to Azerbaijan's Garabagh and East Zangezur regions on September 11-12, 2026. The group emphasized that such visits to sovereign Azerbaijani territories should not incite controversy.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Azerbaijani group released a statement highlighting that verbal attacks on ambassadors and participating countries are alarming. These reactions contradict Armenia's recognition of Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The statement stressed the importance of overcoming past hostilities as both nations navigate the post-conflict period.

The group underscored that cultural heritage within Azerbaijan is safeguarded by the state and belongs to the Azerbaijani people. It called for discussions on cultural heritage to be grounded in reciprocity and open dialogue. To promote peace, civil society representatives have initiated a platform for professional discussions integral to the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The statement warned against the influence of revanchist forces that could hinder progress towards peace. It urged the Armenian society to adopt a cautious approach and avoid supporting agendas that could disrupt the peace process.
