Azerbaijani Health Minister Engages in Key Meetings at WHO Regional Committee Session.


Copenhagen: The delegation led by Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev conducted a series of bilateral meetings during the 74th session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for Europe. These meetings were aimed at strengthening Azerbaijan’s ties with international health bodies.

According to Trend News Agency, a significant meeting was held with WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. At this meeting, Musayev emphasized Azerbaijan’s commitment to collaborating with the WHO and expressed gratitude for the organization’s support. Dr. Ghebreyesus acknowledged the importance Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev places on collaboration with WHO and expressed optimism about the successful implementation of planned joint projects.

Additionally, Musayev met with Hans Henri Kluge, the newly re-elected Chairman of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe. Musayev congratulated Kluge on his re-election and highlighted Azerbaijan’s productive relations with international health organ
izations, including WHO. Both parties expressed confidence in the successful realization of initiatives important to citizens’ health.

Further discussions were held with Latvian Health Minister Husams Abu Meri and Romanian Health Minister Alexandru Rafila. These meetings underscored the pivotal role of state leaders in fostering bilateral relations and recognized the potential for further cooperation in the health sector.

The meetings also included congratulations on Azerbaijan hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). It was noted that Azerbaijan consistently hosts and organizes international events with high standards and dignity.
