Tbilisi: Three companies have submitted bids for the tender to build a stadium in Tbilisi that meets UEFA’s Category IV requirements, intended for football and rugby matches.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Municipal Development Fund received bids from companies based in Georgia, Trkiye, and Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani-invested company “Inshaatchi” LLC, in collaboration with Georgia’s “Makro Construction,” submitted a joint bid valued at 789.4 million lari (USD 291.3 million) for the project.

The proposed stadium will cover a 270,000 square meter area near Tbilisi International Airport and will accommodate 70,000 spectators. The winning company will be allocated a timeframe of 4 years and 3 months to complete the construction of the multifunctional sports arena. Should the tender be awarded this year, the construction is anticipated to be finalized between 2029 and 2030.

Currently, the largest stadium in Georgia is the Boris Paichadze ‘Dinamo Arena’ in Tbilisi, which can hold approximately 55,000 spectators.
