Samarkand: Azerbaijani journalists recently visited the Imam al-Bukhari Memorial Complex near Samarkand as part of a press tour to Uzbekistan on August 20. The journalists had the opportunity to explore the modern complex dedicated to the scholarly work and legacy of Imam Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari, a significant figure in Islamic scholarship and renowned for his contributions to Hadith studies.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the participants were introduced to the complex's modern infrastructure and distinctive architecture. The site features a mosque capable of accommodating 10,000 worshippers, four towering minarets each standing at 75 meters, and a museum with nine pavilions. The journalists were also briefed on Imam al-Bukhari's life, his contributions to Islamic theology, and the importance of 'Sahih al-Bukhari,' a key collection of Hadith in Sunni Islam.

The complex has undergone extensive reconstruction, transforming it into a major hub for spiritual, educational, and tourism activities. It now serves as a site not only for pilgrimage but also for the study of Islamic cultural and scholarly heritage. Additionally, the project saw the construction of hotels, family guesthouses, service facilities, and parking areas, boosting the complex's daily visitor capacity to up to 65,000 individuals.

The Imam al-Bukhari Memorial Complex marked the latest destination on the Azerbaijani journalists' tour, which aims to explore Uzbekistan's rich historical, cultural, and tourism potential.
