Samarkand: As part of a press tour to Uzbekistan, Azerbaijani media representatives toured the ancient Registan Square in Samarkand, one of Central Asia's most remarkable architectural ensembles.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, during the visit, the journalists learned about Registan's history and cultural and scholarly significance, as well as the distinctive features of its three madrasas - Ulugh Beg, Sher-Dor, and Tilla-Kari. It was noted that Registan, which means 'sandy place' in Uzbek, has served for centuries as the heart of Samarkand's public and commercial life.

The participants were also informed about the history of the square's restoration, as the complex suffered repeated damage from earthquakes and other natural factors over the centuries. Extensive restoration efforts helped preserve its architectural and artistic heritage. In 2001, Samarkand and its historic monuments were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Today, Registan Square remains one of Uzbekistan's most popular tourist attractions and a symbol of the city's rich heritage.
