Khiva: Azerbaijani media representatives recently embarked on a visit to the “Ichan-Kala” State Museum-Reserve in Khiva, as reported by APA’s correspondent. The visit aimed to explore the ancient architectural wonders of Khiva and assess efforts to secure its inclusion in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List, alongside initiatives for preserving the historical monuments within “Ichan-Kala.”

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the journalists were briefed about the significance of “Ichan-Kala,” recognized as the ancient heart of Khiva. The site hosts several notable historical landmarks, including the “Kuhna Ark” fortress, “Juma” mosque, “Islam Khoja” minaret, and “Torekhan” palace, among others.

The visiting media group also explored the dynamics of guest houses operating in the reserve, observing the involvement of local residents in tourism activities and examining initiatives related to cultural heritage preservation.

This visit was part of the “Roadmap for the Development of Cooperation in the Media Field between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.” The initiative seeks to enhance understanding of Khiva’s historical and cultural assets, showcase the region’s tourism experience to the Azerbaijani public, and bolster cultural connections between the two nations.
