Baku: Azerbaijan has announced a projected pension indexation of 9.2% for the year 2026. According to legislation, pensions in Azerbaijan are indexed and increased annually based on the official statistical data regarding the previous year’s average monthly wage, as reported by the State Statistical Committee. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population informed APA that the expected increase is set to raise the average pension to 590 manats and the old-age pension to 629 manats.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this anticipated growth was discussed by Anar Aliyev, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population, during a joint meeting of the Milli Majlis Committees on Labor and Social Policy and Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship. The “2026 State Budget Envelope of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was the focal point of these discussions. The minister highlighted that the funds for financing labor pensions in 2026 are expected to rise by 782.4 million manats, marking a 10.9% increase compared to the approved expenditures for 2025. A significant portion, 81.2% or 635.6 million manats, of these additional funds is allocated for expenses related to pension indexation, while the remainder is earmarked for newly assigned and recalculated pensions.
