Riyadh: Azerbaijani judoka Hidayat Heydarov has secured a gold medal in the 73kg weight category at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, following a victory against Uzbek competitor Shakram Ahadov in the final match.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this triumph marks Heydarov’s second gold at the Islamic Solidarity Games, adding to his previous win in Baku in 2017. Azerbaijan’s contingent at the Games consists of 179 athletes competing across 20 sports disciplines. The 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, hosting athletes from 57 Islamic countries, will run until November 21, featuring competitions in 23 sports categories.

The Games will conclude with a closing ceremony scheduled for November 21.
