Stockholm: Azerbaijani literature is making significant strides on the international stage as Eluja Ataly's work becomes the focus of a doctoral research project in India. Ataly, an Azerbaijani writer and poet residing in Stockholm, has seen her work "Welcome and Parting!" translated into Bengali and published in India, marking a milestone for both her career and Azerbaijani cultural heritage.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ataly's philosophical and artistic miniatures were the central theme of a doctoral thesis completed at the University of Calcutta. This research, led by Sankar Sarkar and supervised by Dr. Vineeta Kaur Saluja from Mangalayatan University in Jabalpur, explores themes of freedom, time, and resistance in Ataly's verse, highlighting the growing recognition of Azerbaijani literature in global educational circles.

The study positions Ataly's work alongside renowned poets like William Blake, William Butler Yeats, and Seamus Heaney, underscoring its allegorical depth and moral resonance. Ataly's minimalist aesthetic has invited scholarly comparisons, elevating her status within the literary community.

In her interaction with AZERTAC, Ataly expressed her excitement about her work reaching Indian audiences. She shared insights into her journey, which began with the global release of her books in the United States and eventually led to a successful collaboration with Indian poet Shridhar Sarkar for the Bengali translation.

Ataly's growing influence in India is evident as her work not only features in literary magazines but also becomes a subject of academic research, further solidifying her international literary presence. Shridhar Sarkar, who translated Ataly's collection, noted the rewarding experience and satisfaction in bringing her poetry to the Indian readership.
