Azerbaijani MFA Remembers Aghdaban Tragedy on 34th Anniversary

Baku: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement on the 34th anniversary of the Aghdaban tragedy, APA reports. The statement highlights the profound impact of the massacre on the Azerbaijani community, acknowledging it as one of the severe war crimes perpetrated by Armenian forces against Azerbaijanis.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the statement recalls the events of 1992 when Armenian armed groups completely destroyed the village of Aghdaban in Kalbajar, which comprised 130 houses. The attack left the settlement devastated, resulting in severe torture for 779 civilians and the brutal killing of 67 individuals. The tragedy is remembered as a painful example of the grave crimes committed against the Azerbaijani people.
