Azerbaijani MP Emphasizes Sustainability and Peace at Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly

GENEVA: Sustainability and peace are essential for a brighter future, emphasized Amina Aghazade, a member of the Azerbaijani Parliament, at the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The event, which saw participation from the Azerbaijani delegation led by Parliament Chairperson Sahiba Gafarova, focused on leveraging science, technology, and innovation (STI) for enhancing global peace and sustainability.

According to Trend News Agency, Aghazade highlighted the crucial role of technology in balancing human activities with the natural environment to ensure Earth’s security. She noted that renewable energy technologies are pivotal in reducing reliance on finite resources and decreasing carbon emissions. Aghazade stressed the importance of Azerbaijan in expanding its capabilities in these areas to contribute to global energy security.

“Innovation must be inclusive,” Aghazade stated, underscoring her commitment to aligning Azerbaijan’s efforts in STI with global equity and shared prosperity. She pointe
d out the importance of international cooperation in promoting knowledge transfer and scientific partnerships, ensuring that the benefits of STI reach all, not just a select few.

Aghazade also mentioned that STI could offer solutions to prevent conflicts, emphasizing the need for continuous investment in research, education, and public-private partnerships. These efforts, she remarked, are vital for driving technological breakthroughs and building a sustainable, resilient, and peaceful world for future generations.

“The future we want is within our grasp, but we must commit to using STI as a tool for the greater good-advancing not only progress but also equity, stability, and peace for all,” she concluded.
