Azerbaijani President Confident in Zangezur Corridor’s Imminent Realization

Baku: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has expressed confidence that the Zangezur Corridor, named by former U.S. President Donald Trump, will soon be realized. During an interview with Al-Arabiya TV channel, as reported by APA, President Aliyev highlighted the lack of constructive engagement from Armenia over nearly five years of negotiations. The Azerbaijani leader emphasized the importance of international security guarantees to ensure the safe passage of Azerbaijani citizens along the proposed 40-plus-kilometer route.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev mentioned that the involvement of President Trump's administration was pivotal. The administration addressed Azerbaijan's concerns by naming the corridor TRIPP - Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity. Aliyev expressed optimism about the corridor's construction, noting that the physical infrastructure, particularly the railroad, is not extensive and could be completed quickly by Azerbaijan. He acknowledged that Armenia might require additional time to complete the project due to its lesser experience in building railroads.
