Aghdam: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated that if sanctions had been imposed on Armenia, it would have certainly ended the occupation. He made this remark during a meeting with residents who have been relocated to the city of Aghdam.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev highlighted the global trend where international organizations and influential countries often impose sanctions in response to wars, clashes, and conflicts. He noted that these sanctions have a significant impact. Aliyev argued that in the case of Armenia, a small and economically challenged country, the imposition of sanctions would have likely compelled it to end its occupation. Instead, he pointed out that not only were sanctions not imposed, but some countries provided Armenia with free weapons worth billions of dollars.
