Azerbaijani President Highlights Focus on Small Island Developing States at COP29

Baku:Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of prioritizing the concerns of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) during Azerbaijan's COP29 Presidency.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev addressed participants at the Pre-COP Leaders' Event 2026 in Fiji, stating that these priorities were kept at the forefront of their agenda.

He mentioned that prior to COP29, Azerbaijan hosted leaders from the Bahamas, Tonga, and Tuvalu. This meeting resulted in the Baku Communique, which highlighted the needs of SIDS and urged for stronger global climate action.
