Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev addressed media representatives to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the address highlighted the historical and contemporary significance of the national press in Azerbaijan, tracing its origins to July 22, 1875, when Hasan bey Zardabi began publishing the newspaper ‘Akinchi.’ This event marked the beginning of a movement that fostered national awakening, self-awareness, and freedom of thought in Azerbaijan.
