Azerbaijani President Highlights Shared Heritage with Iranian Counterpart

Baku: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has emphasized the shared cultural and linguistic ties between himself and the President of Iran, noting their common heritage during an interview with Saudi Arabia's Al Arabiya TV channel, as reported by APA. The President of Iran recently visited Azerbaijan on two occasions, marking a strengthening of bilateral relations.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev highlighted the visits, which included an official meeting and participation in the Economic Cooperation Organization summit held in Khankendi, a city in the liberated region of Karabakh. Aliyev remarked on the strong working relationship established between the two leaders, based on mutual cultural understanding.

President Aliyev expressed a personal connection, stating, "Yes, you're absolutely right. He's Azerbaijani. He has the same blood as I do. We speak the same language. We don't need interpreters." He praised the Iranian President's familiarity with Azerbaijani poetry, describing him as a talented individual who requires no notes when reciting at public events.

The shared cultural heritage between the two leaders appears to reinforce diplomatic ties, highlighting the importance of cultural connections in international relations.
