Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has expressed his gratitude to US President Donald Trump through a post on the X platform for sharing his speech at the Shusha Global Media Forum, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev’s post highlighted his appreciation for President Trump’s commitment to a peace agenda both globally and in the region. Aliyev underscored the shared values between the U.S. and Azerbaijan, emphasizing the importance of family traditions and expressing hope for strengthened relations during Trump’s presidency.
The post by President Aliyev stated, “I would like to express my gratitude to President Donald Trump for sharing my remarks on his social media platform regarding the U.S.-Azerbaijan partnership and his commitment to a peace agenda – both globally and in our region – which I conveyed at the Shusha Global Media Forum. Once again, I wish to underscore our support for President Trump’s vision and efforts to promote peace and stability around the world, including in our region. We also share common values, such as the importance of family traditions, and remain hopeful that U.S.-Azerbaijan relations will reach a new level during his Presidency. We wish him continued success in all his endeavors toward this goal.”
Donald Trump shared the speech of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev from the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum on his official Truth Social account. The post featured a video clip of Aliyev’s remarks about Trump, where Aliyev noted his appreciation for Trump’s focus on ending wars and his attention to the South Caucasus region.
In his speech at the forum, President Aliyev stated, “I did not predict Trump’s victory. I simply said that it would be preferable for the Azerbaijani people, given that he, like us, shares fundamental values, including family values. He is the only US president who has not started wars. And in his short time in office, it is clear that he is a man who ends wars. And we are also very grateful to him personally for his desire to help Azerbaijan and Armenia to come to an agreement in the end. Despite the fact that he is busy with more global issues of international security, he also keeps the situation in the South Caucasus in his field of view. We in Azerbaijan, of course, are glad that he won, for many reasons, and, of course, we wish him to see the matter through to the end, especially with regard to the ‘Washington swamp’, to drain it completely.”
