Azerbaijani Song Misrepresented as Armenian Removed from YouTube

Baku: The Cypriot singer of Armenian origin, Ovik Demirchyan, has been involved in a controversy over the song ‘Qal, s?n? qurban’ (Stay, I would sacrifice myself for you). This song, originally composed by Azerbaijani composer Alakbar Taghiyev with lyrics by poet Mikayil Mushfig, was misrepresented as an Armenian creation by Demirchyan, who performed and published it on YouTube under the Greek title ‘Hara Gedir.’

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Intellectual Property Agency intervened to address this misrepresentation. With the collaboration of the ‘Digital and Audiovisual Broadcasting Industry’ Public Union (RAYS), which oversees the property rights of authors, performers, and phonogram producers, the video uploaded by Demirchyan was successfully removed from the YouTube platform.
