Zagreb: Azerbaijani athlete Murad Ahmadiyev achieved a historic success at the Greco-Roman wrestling world championship held in Zagreb, APA reports. Ahmadiyev, who competed in the 97 kg weight category, first defeated Italian Nikoloz Kakhelashvili with a score of 4:1. He then went on to secure a victory over Kyrgyz wrestler Uzur Uzur Dzhuzupbekov with a 5:1 score.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, in the quarterfinals, Ahmadiyev faced a formidable opponent in Artur Aleksanyan of Armenia, a world and European champion. The match concluded with a score of 3:3, and Ahmadiyev emerged victorious by securing the last point advantage, marking a significant achievement in his wrestling career.
