Baku: A delegation led by Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Jacob Mudenda, engaged in a series of meetings on July 6 at Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, marking a significant step in enhancing interparliamentary cooperation between the two nations.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the discussions included a meeting with Mahir Suleymanli, Head of the Working Group on Inter-Parliamentary Relations with Zimbabwe of the Milli Majlis, along with group members. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the growing friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe. Suleymanli highlighted the importance of strengthening interparliamentary relations, emphasizing that reciprocal visits and parliamentary diplomacy are pivotal to fostering cooperation between the countries.

In another meeting with Sadig Gurbanov, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Natural Resources, Energy, and Ecology, it was noted that Azerbaijan prioritizes developing relations with African nations as part of its foreign policy agenda. The delegation also met with members of the Milli Majlis Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Affairs.

Samad Seyidov, Chairman of the Committee, pointed out that the ties between Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe have been progressing positively in recent years. He stressed that interparliamentary relations are a crucial aspect of interstate collaboration, with reciprocal visits by legislative bodies and expanded contacts among committees and friendship groups contributing significantly to strengthening bilateral relations.
