Azerbaijan’s ANAMA Discovers Hundreds of Landmines and UXOs in Liberated Areas

Baku: Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has announced the discovery of 234 more landmines and 2464 unexploded ordnances (UXOs) in the country’s liberated territories. The operations, conducted from November 17 to November 23, 2025, have been part of ongoing efforts to clear these areas of hazardous remnants of past conflicts, ANAMA informed APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the recent findings include 199 anti-personnel mines and 35 anti-tank mines. These dangerous items were located in multiple regions including Tartar, Aghdam, Aghdara, Lachin, Fuzuli, Shusha, Khojaly, Khankandi, Kalbajar, Khojavand, Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan. Additionally, liberated villages in the Gazakh district, such as Baghanis Ayrim, Ashaghi Askipara, Kheyrimli, and Gizilhajili, were also sites of these discoveries.

ANAMA reported that a total of 1527.4 hectares of land have been successfully cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance, marking a significant step towards restoring safety and enabling further development in these regions.
