Baku: Azerbaijan’s National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has identified 198 landmines and 726 unexploded ordnances (UXOs) in the country’s recently liberated territories. The discovery is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to make these areas safe and secure for inhabitants and future development.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, ANAMA’s operations between September 1 and September 7, 2025, resulted in the discovery of 165 anti-personnel mines, 33 anti-tank mines, and 723 UXOs. These hazardous devices were found across several regions, including Tartar, Agdam, Agdara, Lachin, Fuzuli, Shusha, Khojaly, Khankendi, Kalbajar, Khojavend, Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan. Additionally, the liberated villages of Baganis Ayrim, Ashagi Eskipara, Kheyrimli, and Gizilhajili in the Gazakh region were also part of the clearance operations.

The report highlights that a total of 1,304.6 hectares of land has been cleared of mines and unexploded explosives. This significant progress marks a step towards restoring normalcy and ensuring the safety of residents returning to these areas.
