Azerbaijan’s Deputy PM attends the swearing-in ceremony of Brazil’s new president

Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Ahmadov paid an official visit to Brazil on 12/31/2022-01/03/2023 to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected President of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and the new Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, the Azerbaijani embassy in Brazil told APA.

 

According to the Embassy, many heads of state and government and other officials took part in the ceremony.

 

During the ceremony, A. Ahmadov conveyed the greetings and congratulations of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the new President of Brazil and said that our country wishes to further develop relations with Brazil. Gratitude was expressed to President Lula, who supported the position of Azerbaijan in the previous years of government in the name of regional security and stability, and hope was expressed that Brazil would continue to provide political support to our country.

 

At the ceremony, Ali Ahmadov also met with President Lula’s adviser on foreign policy and security issues, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense Celso Amorim, and discussed with him the prospects for relations between the two countries.

 

On January 2, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov met with Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alkmin and First Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Laura Rocha. During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation between our countries both in bilateral and multilateral spheres were discussed.

 

Ali Ahmadov noted that Azerbaijan is the leading country in the region and spoke about the rapid development of the economy of our country. He noted that Azerbaijani officials are ready to discuss new prospects for political and economic cooperation with Brazil and believe that this will bring mutual benefits. It was also noted that this year will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brazil and Azerbaijan, and in this regard, a number of events are expected between the two countries, intensification of activities in the direction of organizing mutual visits of high-ranking representatives of states.
