Baku: Azerbaijan sent its first relocation convoy to the Karkijahan settlement in Khankendi, where families received keys to their new homes. On December 20, the convoy reached its destination, marking a significant step in the resettlement process for those returning to their native land.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the relocation involved 30 families, comprising a total of 115 people, who were provided with apartments in the Karkijahan settlement. The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Special Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Khankendi, as well as officials from the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, and representatives from the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons.

The initiative aligns with President Ilham Aliyev’s instructions to facilitate the Great Return to the liberated territories. The families moving to Karkijahan had been temporarily residing in different parts of the country, in locations such as dormitories, sanatoriums, and administrative buildings. The returning residents expressed their gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, highlighting the comprehensive state care they received. They also thanked the Azerbaijani Army and its soldiers for their role in liberating the occupied lands and honored the memory of martyrs who lost their lives in the process.
