BAKU—In a significant meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov discussed strengthening cooperation within the OIC and upcoming climate initiatives.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting occurred alongside the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, focusing on Azerbaijan’s active role and partnership opportunities in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). Bayramov articulated Azerbaijan's longstanding commitment to fostering relationships with OIC member states and expressed eagerness to enhance these ties further, particularly in environmental efforts.
Highlighting Azerbaijan’s agenda for COP29, Bayramov shared detailed plans about the country's presidency, emphasizing the mobilization of financial resources for combating climate change. He affirmed Azerbaijan’s readiness to collaborate within the COP29 framework to address the climate-related challenges faced by OIC member countries.
The discussions also covered a variety of topics relevant to both parties, ensuring a broad exchange of views and mutual understanding on issues of shared importance.
