BAKU: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, alongside Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department, engaged with ambassadors from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states in a pivotal meeting to discuss the nation's diplomatic and environmental initiatives. The session highlighted Azerbaijan's focus on strengthening ties with Muslim countries, the country's forthcoming presidency of COP29, and ongoing efforts to normalize relations with Armenia. According to Trend News Agency, the meeting addressed significant topics, including Azerbaijan's preparations for hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, set for November. The discussions included Azerbaijan's strategic priorities for COP29, such as climate finance, the Paris Agreement, and transparency in national climate contributions. Minister Bayramov outlined the significant progress in negotiations, with plans to ado pt around 60 documents on various issues during the conference. The dialogue also covered the current regional dynamics in the post-conflict period, emphasizing the prospects for normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. However, he expressed concerns over Armenia's territorial claims in its constitution and the potential threat posed by militarization, which could undermine peacebuilding efforts.
