BAKU: The Middle Corridor, a critical transportation link between China and Europe, is set to transform into an environmentally friendly route, emphasizing zero emissions. This development comes as Azerbaijan strengthens its role as a key transport hub, according to remarks by Heiko Schwarz, Deputy Head of the Business Mission at the German Embassy in Baku, during an information event focused on railroad technology innovations.

According to Trend News Agency, Schwarz highlighted the rapid advancements in the Middle Corridor since his arrival in Azerbaijan three and a half years ago, attributing these changes to significant political shifts. The corridor, once stagnant, is now vital in facilitating goods movement from China to Europe and in creating regional value chains. Railways and ports are integral to these developments, he noted.

The Middle Corridor, a strategic route, integrates container rail freight transportation networks across China, the European Union, and several countries in Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Eastern Europe. It includes a multimodal transportation infrastructure that connects the ferry terminals of the Caspian and Black Seas with the railway systems of China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Trkiye, Ukraine, and Poland.
