Azerbaijan’s Gastrotourism Opportunities Highlighted in Madrid

Madrid: Azerbaijan's gastrotourism opportunities were prominently showcased at the Madrid Fusion Alimentos de Espa±a 2026 event held in Spain from January 26-28. The event served as a platform for Azerbaijan to present its rich culinary heritage and biodiversity, attracting interest from international attendees.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the national gastronomy stand featured an array of Azerbaijani national cuisine, confectionery products, and dried fruits. These offerings highlighted the country's rich culinary traditions and diverse gastronomy to the attendees, which included notable figures such as Ramiz Hasanov, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Spain and Permanent Representative to the UN Tourism Organization. Hasanov took the opportunity to acquaint himself with the showcased products at the stand.

The Azerbaijani stand also caught the attention of Ferran Adri , the director of the "elBulli" foundation and a master chef recognized with 3 Michelin stars. His visit underscored the international interest in Azerbaijani culinary offerings.

Additionally, a meeting took place between Azada Huseynova, Deputy Chairperson of Azerbaijan's State Tourism Agency, and Stephanie Kim, International Director of La Liste, the global gastronomic ranking organization. The discussion centered on fostering cooperation with La Liste and enhancing the international visibility of Azerbaijani gastronomic products.
