Islamabad: The Azerbaijani Embassy in Pakistan organized an official reception to celebrate May 28, marking Azerbaijan's Independence Day. The event was attended by a notable gathering, including Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan; Abdul Aleem Khan, Federal Minister for Communications; senators; ambassadors; diplomats; representatives from various sectors of Pakistan; high-ranking military officers; media personnel; and Azerbaijanis residing in Pakistan.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the reception commenced with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Pakistan. Azerbaijani Ambassador Khazar Farhadov addressed the attendees, emphasizing the journey to independence of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), which celebrates its 108th anniversary this year. Ambassador Farhadov highlighted the strong bilateral and multilateral support shared between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, especially in regional and international forums.
Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani extended his congratulations to Azerbaijan's government and citizens on the occasion of their Independence Day. He noted the robust progress in inter-parliamentary relations between the two nations and commended the mutual understanding and solidarity that continues to strengthen the ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
