Shamakhi: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced significant strides in the country's agricultural sector during the opening of the 'Shirvan Agro' livestock complex in Shamakhi. The president highlighted efforts to diminish import volumes as part of a broader strategy to achieve self-sufficiency in meat, milk, and dairy products.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized the importance of the new enterprise in creating jobs and fostering agricultural development both locally in the Shamakhi district and nationally. He noted that the 'Shirvan Agro' complex is the largest of its kind in Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus, playing a crucial role in the nation's goal to locally produce all its meat and dairy needs.
The president further outlined the government's ambition to not only meet domestic demands but also to position Azerbaijan as an exporter of meat and dairy products in the future. While acknowledging that full self-sufficiency has yet to be achieved, Aliyev expressed confidence that facilities like the 'Shirvan Agro' complex would be instrumental in realizing this objective.
