BAKU: Azerbaijan's Media Development Agency and the Commission of Milli Majlis against Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats have issued a joint statement highlighting the discovery of a coordinated disinformation campaign on the X platform. The statement reveals that many profiles involved in this campaign are utilizing mass inauthentic accounts to oppose the upcoming UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29), which is set to be hosted in Azerbaijan. According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the orchestrated activities aim to fabricate the perception of widespread dissatisfaction with Azerbaijan's role as the host of COP29. The joint statement emphasizes that these actions are founded on disinformation and serve to create an illusion of mass discontent. The statement also mentions that an effective communication strategy is in place to ensure that the public receives timely and accurate information about COP29. The agencies involved call on both citizens and the interna tional community to disregard misleading information and trust only official sources. Furthermore, they urge the X platform to conduct an investigation into the disinformation campaign.
