Baku: The Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan has issued a formal statement regarding a coordinated disinformation campaign targeting the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Trkiye. The agency highlighted occurrences of disinformation that aim to damage the relationship between the two countries.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the information, which appears to originate from the resource 'Tsargrad.tv' in the Russian-language segment of the internet, has been spreading through various foreign online news channels and social media platforms. The agency condemned these activities, noting they are designed to mislead public opinion with fake and manipulative content that targets the strong ties between Azerbaijan and Trkiye.
The statement urged Azerbaijani and Turkish journalists and media entities to adopt a principled stance against such disinformation. It called for a commitment to refrain from disseminating unverified information and to act responsibly in maintaining the integrity of the information environment. Additionally, the agency encouraged the public in both countries to rely only on official statements and to dismiss fake information.
The Media Development Agency reiterated its commitment to working closely with the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Trkiye to prevent similar incidents and to promote a unified approach in the information space.
