Azerbaijan’s Ordubad Joins Islamic World Heritage Tentative List

Tashkent: Azerbaijan's Ordubad Historical-Architectural Reserve has been included in the Islamic World Heritage Tentative List. The decision was made during the 13th session of the Islamic World Heritage Committee of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), which took place from February 10 to 13 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the city of Ordubad, recognized as a historical-architectural reserve in 1977, had already been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List on October 24, 2001. This recent inclusion in ICESCO's list marks another milestone in acknowledging the historical and cultural significance of Ordubad.
